1979 was a turning point in artist, Howardena Pindell’s life and work – and with nostalgia for the past at an all-time high, we let Chicagoans literally visit 1979, the year that changed everything.

Experience the time warp and interact with the music and pop culture of 1979.  Attendees scored some timely swag from the era, like t-shirts inspired by Howardena, or listened to some ‘79 vinyl — all while learning about the work and life of Howardena Pindell via a slew of exclusive “Made You Look” moments.

After visiting the pop-up, attendees could visit the "Howardena Pindell: What Remains to Be Seen" exhibit at the MCA for the 1979 admission price.
